Upon returning from a summer trip in France, an image, or perhaps even a sensation, had already taken root within my mind, urging to be translated onto canvas.

When I closed my eyes, I could see palm leaves, indigo blue, deep green and bright yellow hues. Amidst the tropical backdrop was a woman, her face so intricately painted that her long hair seemed to dance with the palm leaves, her eyes gazing deep into your soul, and her luscious mouth whispering secrets to you. There was also her shoulder that seemed to have been tattooed by the backdrop and over which her gaze met yours, as if she was pausing, just for you.

Technique:

  • The background has been created with a 1st layer of acrylic paint and a collage made with a selection of different papers.
  • The portrait has been painted with black and white acrylic paint.

​Finishing touches:

  • The painting will arrive ready to display. The sides (1.5" depth) are painted in black for a crisp look which leaves you free to frame it or not.
  • Signature, date and painting title on the back.
  • It is sealed with a satin varnish to protect against dust and UV light.
  • All photos capture the colours and details as closely as possible, but there may be slight variances between photos and actual painting.
